The MasterChef show is extremely popular across the world. Having watched it in other languages for years, the Telugu audience is in for a treat as Endemol Shine is all set to launch MasterChef Telugu soon. With Chefs Mahesh Padala, Sanjay Thumma and Chalapati Rao as judges, the show is bound to be a huge success
The MasterChef show has made fans from around the world. And we Indians simply love the show, whether it is American, British, Australian, or our very own desi version. The scrumptious food, the top-class chef judges and the overall format of the show are what keep us hooked to it. While we love watching the show from other countries and the Indian one in the Hindi language, wouldn’t we all love to want to watch the show happen in Telugu? It would be so good to see contestants from the Telugu-speaking states take part in the show someday. Well, that someday is not far as the show makers are all set to launch MasterChef Telugu from 27th August on Gemini TV.
In line with the show’s format, MasterChef Telugu will be seeing amateur home chefs take part in the competition and exhibit their culinary skills to the judges and the audience. They will all be competing for the title plus a whooping ₹ 25 lakhs prize money. And the cherry on top is the esteemed judges’ panel which includes chefs Sanjay Thumma, Chalapathi Rao and Mahesh Padala. All the judges are very excited to be part of the show.
Talking to Handi Talks about the show, Chef Sanjay Thumma of Varevah.com says, “When I first got a call to be a part of MasterChef I went there like any other contest I had been a part of. But after coming here I got to experience a format that has been fine-tuned through the years and today it is the best, watched in over 100 countries. The contestants, who are home cooks are put through such rigorous tests and gain so much exposure that what we learnt through our college, they gain the knowledge in just a few days.”
As Chef Sanjay says, the MasterChef Telugu journey will introduce the contestants to newer cooking techniques and formats. Each judge brings with him a rich experience that will help the participants learn better. Chef Mahesh Padala for instance has been exposed to global cooking styles for a long time. He currently co-runs a quick-service restaurant, My Tea Chapel in Gurgaon. He says, “My culinary knowledge goes beyond the Telugu cuisine. I have tried my hand at different world cuisines and have learnt quite a few of them. Hence I’ll be adding a global essence to the show. The show is global and the Telugu people also accept this. We have some interesting episodes coming up.”
Unlike the bad reputation reality shows carry, MasterChef is very much real and all three judges have commonly expressed this. Simply South’s Chef Chalapati Rao, legendary for his south Indian food and his stint in ITC Hotels, is simply in awe of the show. Speaking to Handi Talks he says, “Having shot a few episodes so far, I can say how different the show is and what has made it so popular across the world. Completely unorchestrated, the format makes it stand out. And it is really a matter of pride to see the show being shot in Telugu with three Telugu chefs as part of the judging panel. I have personally known Sanjay and Mahesh for a long time and it is great fun to work with them on the show.”
Innovative Film Academy is presenting the show in association with Endemol Shine. In addition to the three chef judges, the show will be seeing actor Tamannaah Bhatia as the show’s host. Viewers are in for a fun-filled and show that will showcase some intense cooking by contestants. Don’t forget to tune into it on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:30 p.m starting 27th August.
