To help patients of COVID-19 who are in isolation and who’re unable to get access to nutritious food, Telangana police launches ‘Seva Ahaar’ (free food) service, in association with Sri Satya Sai Seva Organizations, Lead life Foundation, Swiggy, Big Basket and Hope Organization.
Getting healthy food has become a challenge for Covid patients. “And, Telangana Police launches a new App to provide free food to Covid patients. “Needy people can drop a WhatsApp message on +91 7799616163 by providing their name, contact number, location and isolation COVID-19 positive certificate,” the office of Director General of Police M Mahender Reddy shared.
This initiative is aiming to provide free food at the patient’s doorstep and is expected to cater to the needs of 1,000 to 2,000 COVID-affected people every day, they said. All Requests are to be placed every day before 6 a.m. and any requests post 6 will be
considered as the next day’s order. The maximum number of people for whom one can order food is five and the maximum number of days one can order is also five from one registered mobile number.
“In a week from now, free food services will be streamlined with the launch of a Seva Ahaar mobile application. The service has been launched to give priority to senior citizens and children in isolation. Further, the lunch served is tested and nutritious,” they said. The food is being produced by Sri Satya Sai Seva Organizations and deliveries are being carried out by Big Basket and Swiggy executives on the field as well as limited volunteers from NGO partners.
With the App, the free food distribution services will be made more systematic and widespread,” Telangana police said.
